Digital Signature
A value containing unique information used to validate transaction authenticity. Digital signatures have two primary applications in cryptocurrency. In the proof of work consensus algorithm, cryptographic hash functions encrypt block hashes, requiring significant computing resources to uncover the hash. In one public key cryptography form, transaction recipients validate authenticity by decrypting the sender’s digital signature with the sender’s public key.
