Blockchain

A blockchain is an accounting ledger containing a record of the balances and transactions of addresses. The block ”chain” is a linear series of blocks tied together by cryptography stretching all the way back to the very first block (genesis block). Distinguishing features include peer-to-peer transactions and a tamper-proof ledger. Each cryptocurrency is differentiated by how it creates, communicates with and applies the ledger.
